What's Ghost in Fashion Photography

Sunday, February 16, 2020 | By: Photography by George

Ghost fashion photography creates the illusion of an invisible mannequin by digitally removing it from images. This effect requires at least two photos—one with the mannequin and one without—merged using layer masks to showcase the interior details, labels, and natural fit of the clothing.

There are three main types of ghost mannequin edits:

  1. Bottom Joint – For long-tail garments.
  2. Neck Joint – For shirts, jackets, dresses, and more.
  3. Sleeves Joint – For long sleeves, ensuring a natural 3D shape.
