High Dynamic Range (HDR) in Photography

Many clients inquiring about product photography typically ask me these questions:

Can you remove the background?

Do you use high end professional camera and lens?

Do you deliver High Resolution Photographs?

Well, the answer for all three questions is: yes, yes and yes.

...but here is the catch...

If you approach PROFESSIONAL product photographer the answer "Yes" should be obvious. Don't need to ask these questions.

So - what should I be asking for?

You'd rather ask if they'll give you final product in High Dynamic Range (HDR). It makes a substantial difference in terms of the impact it makes on presentation. Visual presentation matters!! See attached picture.

Second important factor is camera settings - at least ask if the shots will be taken in RAW format.

Shooting in JPEGs causes lost of many data right at the beginning. Easy shortcut will cause compromising on the quality of the edited photograph.
