Product Photography do it yourself. Myths and Facts.

You bought set of lights, set them up (ex. two lights at 45 degrees) and you're ready to shoot products. All of them with the same setting.

Does it always work? In some cases it might. Here is an example that shows it's not necessary true and remedy:

 

Today I was shooting metal vases. I set op 3 strobe lights directly on the object. Few vases looked great. Image "1".

Next vase made of the same material, but different shape didn't work at all "2".

Remedy: I needed to readjust lighting system. Three light directed to the ceiling and three from the bottom. This way I was using dispersed light and bad reflection has disappeared "3".
